What do we do?

Sacred Heart Church

Our Lady of Charity Conference is supported by two parishes;  Sacred Heart of Lancaster and Saint Junipero Serra of Quartz Hill

Food Ministry

Breakfast

Normally an outside group is scheduled to prepare, bring, and help serve breakfast to homeless individuals and families in need. Without these organizations we would not be able to serve breakfast three days a week. We supplement breakfast with donated fruit and pastries when available.  The number of meals served ranges from 70 - 130 people.  A Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance is said and breakfast is served at 9 a.m.

Bag Lunch and Toiletries

Over the years, we have helped countless individuals and families overcome financial, medical, and social challenges. Our success stories are a testament to the impact of our programs and the dedication of our team and supporters.

Family and Senior Program

The Family and Senior Program is for residents of Lancaster and Quartz Hill only, bounded roughly by Avenues H and N and 60th West and 60th East.   Families are required to provide proof of residency, ID for all family members, and must have children 18 and under residing in the home.  Seniors and Disabled can also qualify. Food is given out every four weeks, and a minimum of one home visit per calendar year is required.  The home visit consists of food delivery, prayer, and conversation.

Pantry

The  pantry manages all the food that has either been donated to us or that  we have purchased such as canned goods, meat, cakes, bread, pastries,  fruit, produce, etc. Items have to be inspected, sorted, inventoried and  organized ensuring enough supplies are on hand to support the morning  breakfast, bag lunch program, and family food program

Haircuts

Free haircuts are offered to men, women, and children every Monday from 9:30 - 11:30.

Clothing Ministry

Yard Sales

At our Site 2 location, we receive donations of clean gently used clothing, including shoes and linens, and small appliances. These are distributed regularly to our local homeless individuals and needy families. Periodically we have half-day Yard Sales where everything is put on sale at very reasonable prices.

Sort, sort, sort

Donated clothing and miscellaneous small household items need to be sorted, sized and stored for use by our friends in need. Sorting is a never-ending job and we are so grateful to our many volunteers who help out at our clothing ministry at Site 2.
